State Of The Blog - July 2022

The usual quick updates and such after the break...

Video Reviews
July 4th is Independence Day in America. And so we're reviewing a game about American Girl. Because America, goddammit!

If all goes well, there'll be a nice influx of reviews on a semi-daily basis and we might hit #900 before the month is up. That depends on if all goes well. I already have #900 planned and in the works.

PPV Musings
For anyone who had missed last week's post, I didn't watch the AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door PPV event that took place this past weekend nor had I any intention of doing so. I've heard good things and kudos to all who enjoyed the show, but there wasn't much incentive for me to jump on the bandwagon for this crossover event. So I ended up musings about the 1989 Great American Bash instead, which turned out to be one of the better WCW shows I've watched.

That said, there's some fun stuff coming up on the PPV Musings front, including this month, which is all about WCW in the summer of 1996... and one 1997 PPV show. For the month of July, there will be musings for Great American Bash 1996, Bash At The Beach 1996, Hog Wild 1996, and Road Wild 1997. Why, yes, there is indeed a correlation of sorts. And there is a significant story to tell here. I'm sure you already know what that is, but if not... stay tuned, I guess.

Beyond that... well, don't count on Summerslam being covered until August, during which time I'll bang out musings for the previous two years I missed or failed to mention or acknowledge or whatever. Other than the UK show, I'm not expecting to cover any other upcoming WWE PPVs or PLEs or MEHs until perhaps the Royal Rumble and instead will focus on some old TNA shows and maybe even a couple old WWE shows... and then I need to do one more WWE show with the Fiend, who sucks.

Backlog Update - Restored Home Video and Book Reviews
A couple years back, I had prepped for a move to another blog and had prepared some material for that site, including some book reviews that never saw the light of day for reasons unknown. Obviously, nothing came of that move, but I was able to go back and recover some of those posts and add them to the archives. There'll be more to come in the following weeks, but you can check these out at your convenience below.

Video Restoration Notes
So I've got most of the final 2013 reviews restored and ready for public consumption, some of which have been "blessed" with new edits. Looking at the list below, you'll notice a gap in the batch. That review is still being worked (a.k.a. I need to record new footage because the old video turned to shit.) Once that is done, there'll probably be a couple holes left to fill and hopefully by the end of July, we'll have every video review watchable in some form or fashion, whether it'd be the old Youtube embeds or the revamped Dailymotion re-ups.

Restored video reviews:
221 - Gauntlet IV (Genesis)
223 - Final Fight 2 (SNES)
224 - Genesis 6-Pak (Genesis)
226 - Angry Video Game Nerd KO Boxing (2600 homebrew)
227 - NHL Stanley Cup (SNES)
228 - Time Lord (NES)
229 - Super Tetris 2 + Bombliss (Super Famicom)

That's about it. Next month sees me with a little more downtime, which means I can get around to fixing some old stuff I've been wanting to put up for a while and you'll see it in the coming weeks. Until then, take care and enjoy the month.
