AEW Dynamite (June 1st, 2022): An Important Show

I know I said last week that I wasn't going to do any more of these weekly Dynamite musings, but something important and significant happened on this show that prompted me to talk about this piece of business. It's been the talk of the town and I feel the need to provide my two cents on the matter. I am, of course, referring to...

THE RETURN OF MIRO after a long absence, cutting a great promo and following that up with a tremendous destruction of Johnny Of Many Names. It's been a long time coming and I'm glad to see Miro back in fighting form. Hopefully, he'll be back in the TNT title picture to redeem the tattered reputation of that title... or maybe he's on to bigger and better things.

There was also a good multi-person tag match thing with the Elite. Adam Cole was on commentary, but that didn't take away from the match. The Jon Moxley/Daniel Garcia main event was a thing of bloody beauty and the announcement of Blood & Guts for down the road is something to look forward to... although I question where you go from there if this is a thing that's ongoing. All in all, a pretty good show.

Oh yeah... there's also MJF.

So, some stuff happened that you can look up, some grievances were had and subsequently aired, and everyone has been praising this as the next pipe bomb promo or career-making angle worthy of Brian Pillman... yeah, people forget that the "pipe bomb" led to a whole bunch of nothing and the only thing that whole thing with Pillman and WCW helped was Pillman and nobody else. Even that Kevin Nash promo that took place the night after he lost the WWF Title ultimately led nothing and he ended up in WCW to turn that into a monster instead.

Don't get me wrong. It's a great promo; a tremendous promo on the part of MJF. And if this were the first of its kind that I had seen, I would've considered this to be a game changer; a paradigm shift, if you will. But I've seen this kind of promo before and more often than not, it's led to nothing. Hopefully, this is an exception to the rule, but my hopes are not high for this. We shall wait and see.

And now I'm out.

P.S. - You know, it amazes me that in all these so-called pipebombs being brought, nobody mentioned the "incredible, game-changing pipebomb" promo that Kevin Owens laid out on a random episode of Smackdown about guys being underused and McMahons too plentiful. People thought that would lead to big things too... I thought differently. Guess that one turned out?

Here're the Smackdown musings for those interested. It's even the new Post Of The Week.
