So Wrestlemania 27 was a thing... touted as one of the worst Wrestlemanias of all time, and considering the scant number of shows with stakes to the claim, that's saying quite a bit.
The big takeaway from this show was John Cena and The Rock agreeing to a match at next year's Wrestlemania, which would be built as a Once-In-A-Lifetime encounter. Of course, people know better now and I'd imagine quite a few knew then that this was bullshit, but whatever. It works. Kinda... sorta... and then Wade Barrett's group shows up to job to the big main eventers. Not Nexus, but the other one whose name I forgot.
In other worthless bits, Michael Cole - yes, that Michael Cole - gets his win over Jerry Lawler via decision reversal and is undefeated at Wrestlemania. This is followed by a match between Lawler and Jack Swagger, which saw Swagger submit Lawler with an anklelock, but his refusal to let go of the hold resulted in a decision reversal and Lawler getting the DQ win. Glad I recapped that whole thing.
And then Sheamus beat Daniel Bryan Danielson to retain the US title. The match was supposed to take place at Mania, but shit happened, I guess.
Whatever.
