Because when Nintendo sells cardboard, they need the space and something has to go to the back.
By the way, there are just as many Genesis Flashback units here as there were a month or two ago. Meanwhile, those Atari Flashback things are long gone. Obviously, the SNES Classic Edition Killer, this thing is not. And hopes aren't going to be high on their Mini Mega Drive debacle.
