Vintage 2013 Photos Of Target Store In Montreal

These were taken in late-2013 shortly before the opening of the Target store in Les Galeries D'Anjou shopping center. I can remember there being a bit of excitement over the big American chain making their mark here and serving up service that would've been comparable to what the old retain chain Zellers would've offered.

A year later, the brand would limp out of Canada as an unmitigated failure and fall into bankruptcy. When you get in the stores, it's hard to see why. Always a lack of stock, always higher prices than usual, and always a lack of reason to go there. I've never been to a Target store in the US, but I have to think they were offering more there than they did here.

And then they wonder why they're going bankrupt.
