WWE Survivor Series 2010

Sooner than later...

Think he's gone for a good long while? Think again...

Gotta sell that merch, after all...

Anyway, some thoughts on the card.

United States champion Daniel Bryan Danielson defeated Ted Dibiase Jr. in a so-so match to retain the title. Not as good as the Ziggler match from that Bragging Rights show, but this was still fine and it gave Bryan a big win, so that's fine.

John Morrison defeated Sheamus with a knee to the face. This was a lot better than I thought it was going to be; a classic battle between the fast high-flying small guy against the bigger brute. Sometimes, you can have two guys gel together and get a good match out of the formula. This was one of those times.

Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler defeated Kaval (a.k.a Low Ki from TNA) to retain the title. This didn't click with me for some reason and I'm surprised because both guys usually do good stuff. But I guess this was an off day for them.

Team Mysterio (Rey Mysterio, Big Show, Chris Masters, Kofi Kingston, and MVP) defeated Team Del Rio (Alberto Del Rio, Tyler Reks, Drew McIntyre, Jack Swagger, and Cody Rhodes) in a Survivor Series match. Mysterio and Show are the survivors of the match. This was a fun time for the most part. I like the bit where Big Show punched the new guy Alberto out and he couldn't continue anymore. That way, he's eliminated but not actually pinned or submitted. All in all, fun time had by all.

There's a Divas title match where Natalya defeats two chicks to win the Divas title... there was once a time when she could've won the Women's title, but now she has to carry this stupid belt. Whatever.

The match between World Heavyweight Champion KANE and Edge ended in a draw where Edge speared Kane and scored a pinfall, but because Edge's shoulders were also on the floor, nobody is a winner and Kane keeps the title. What a bunch of bullshit this match was... and the ending was no better, either.

Tag-team champion Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel defeated Vladimir Kozlov and Santino Marella to retain the titles... this was a thing that happened.

WWE Champion Randy Orton defeated Wade Barrett with John Cena as a special referee to retain the title and left John Cena without a job, as the prematch stipulation implied that if Wade didn't win the title, Cena would be fired. Cena could've helped Wade win, but because he's a good guy, he did the right thing, Orton retained the title, and Cena is gone for good... except not really, because who buys John Cena being gone for any extended period of time? This match was supposed to be about the drama of Cena, but since there was no drama to be had here, it was just dull.

Just like the Bragging Rights show, this was a complete waste of time where nothing of note happened. I almost guarantee you Cena is back in time for the PPV, making the main event pointless, so why bother?
