IMPACT (May 13th, 2010): Back Where They Belong

So, if you haven't checked out my spoiler thoughts, do so here.

I will give TNA a sliver of credit - their first Thursday show since tapping out on Mondays turned out to be a better show than I was expecting and certainly not as horrifying as I had initially believed after reading the spoilers. It's not a particularly good show - let's not go crazy in our limited praise - but obviously, the advantages of being a taped show means you get to edit the bullshit and bring it down to a tolerable level.

Sadly, it's still TNA. And there's still plenty of bullshit to be had here.

I've done a little digging into this poll thing. Apparently, TNA held an online fan poll of sorts on some website regarding who gets the next shot at Rob Van Dam's TNA World Title. At the time of the show's taping, Jeff Hardy was leading the polls, so naturally, they would announce that Jeff was leading the polls. However, by the time the show aired, the polls showed that DESMOND WOLFE, who is NOT Jeff Hardy, was in the clear lead, which meant that this whole poll was a total sham. Regardless, Bischoff says Hardy couldn't make it, but AJ decides to challenge RVD to reclaim his title... and then Jeff shows up and weeza haz a three-way... which Rob would win. It was a fun main event, at least.

Going backwards, Matt Morgan (the TNA Tag Champion... just the one, apparently) beat up a couple jobbers then cut a promo, which brought out Samoa Joe to muscle bust Morgan. The Oldsiders came out and Nash said he was cashing in their shot at the tag titles. Nash then pinned Morgan to the Oldsiders the tag titles, which means that, yes, senior citizens Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are the TNA Tag Team Champions Of The World. In 2010. Fuck me, this really is Wheel Chair Wrestling all over again.

And that's it for me. I just wanted to check TNA's inglorious return to Thursday nights before closing the book on the promotion for the foreseeable future. Maybe down the road, I'll sample an episode or two... maybe even lose my mind and order a PPV or two along the way, but I'm done with this shit.

Back to boring RAW and Smackdown I go.
