WWE Bragging Rights 2009

I'm trying to figure out whether this is a decent trade-off.

Last year and years prior, WWE held a PPV called Cyber-Sunday - originally called Taboo Tuesday - where WWE fans would have their say on what happens in certain matches... i.e. who does the champion face, what stipulation between two men are there, what silly costume do the Divas wear in order for us to care about them, and so on and so forth. It was a novel concept, but for some reason - possibly something to do with sales being shit - WWE decided to drop that PPV in favor of Bragging Rights, which is touted as a Smackdown vs Raw encounter, but only ends up being one match billed as such... and a Divas match.

The Miz defeated John Morrison in a pretty decent opener. Former tag partners collide and stuff and turns out they work well together on opposite sides. Good way to start a PPV, methinks.

Michelle McCool, Natalya & Beth Phoenix defeated Melina, Kelly Kelly & Gail Kim in a six-woman tag match when Phoenix pinned Melina after hitting her Glam Slam. Short, brief, inoffensive, and otherwise forgettable.

World champion the Undertaker defeated CM Punk, Batista, and Rey Mysterio in a Fatal Four Way match to retain the title. Fun part is when Batista tries to pin Undertaker and Rey breaks the count... and then after the match, Batista beats up Rey for a bit, screaming about Rey supposed to being Dave's friend or something like that. So I guess big Dave's a bad guy now... maybe he'll provide Taker with good fodder and maybe even take the title.

Team Smackdown (comprising Chris Jericho, Kane, Matt Hardy, Finlay, R-Truth, David Hart Smith & Tyson Kidd) defeated Team RAW (comprising HHH, Shawn Michaels, Big Show, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Cody Rhodes & Kofi Kingston) in a "Sweet Jesus, How Many Fuckers Do We Need To Fit This Fucking Match" match to win a trophy or something that somehow does not get smashed. I could not get into this one because there were simply too many people in this match to give a shit and there simply wasn't enough time for anyone to really shine.

John Cena defeated WWE champion Randy Orton in a 60-minute anything goes, fall counts anywhere Ironman match to win the title; Cena wins 6 falls to 5. I've said this before and I'll say this again; you've seen one Cena/Orton match, you've seen them all. And on top of that, you have this Ironman stipulation that simply drags the match on for much longer than necessary. By the halfway point, I was done.

So, that was Bragging Rights. It was a thing that happened.

The End.
