Classic Bite Commentary: April 26th, 2007

(2018 Update: Replaced an older post with an even older Bite commentary.)

Welcome to the Bite. Hope every one had a great Easter/Passover holiday a few weeks. Mine was fairly good albeit uneventful, but boy was that goat meat great or what? Okay, let's get on with it. Not much to say this time around; just some pimping, some linking, and some updates on future web projects. Some extended-edition blog reposts might pop up here and there.

For anyone who is asking me, I have not converted into a John Cena Chain Gangbang member. There are no plans for a John Cena website, I have already taken down the Chain Gang Blog (which really wasn't doing much anyway), and most importantly of all, I still hate John Cena. Please leave me the fuck along on this issue and let's move on.

Picked up a new printer to replace the old one, which wasn't printing anymore so much as feeding paper for no other reason than to piss me off. I have to admit that I miss the old Epson; we've had some great times together, but I can't stick with something that doesn't work just because it's been around for a long time. And besides, with the new printer purchases (which also doubles as a scanner), I can toss the old scanner too and get more room for other stuff.

Through the wonders of YouTube, I've managed to watch a couple episodes of the new Power Rangers series, Operation Overdrive. The show feels more like a Teen Disney show with rubber monsters than a Power Rangers series of old. I guess since that's all they can do with the show, it's just fine. It still isn't worthwhile for me to follow, but I'll probably jump in for the team-ups. That alone makes it an improvement over the vile piece of incoherent shit that is Power Rangers SPD... and the less said about Mystic Force, the better.

I disagree with some people about how the franchise is going on a downward spiral in terms of the show's quality. While I'm not a particular fan of the current direction, I also understand that they have their own vision for the show and thus cannot be expected to achieve the quality that previous shows has garnered. The problem with such lofty expectations is that you're bound to get disappointed every time. I didn't care for SPD and even after watching a few episodes a couple years later, I still think it was a misstep. By comparison, I initially hated Ninja Storm, but after a while, I've learned to enjoy the series as a first attempt under new management and it was an admittingly decent effort. SPD doesn't have that and I didn't see enough of Mystic Force to really comment it on, although some developments had prevented me from doing so.

Long popular message board Rangerboard had recently placed a ban on porn fanfics. Meanwhile, Mystech Rangers (a mindfuck of a "story" if you want to call it that) is still on the boards. So it's okay for poorly-written incoherent stories with tentacle sex to be posted, but straight up porn stories are inappropriate? Someone explain the logic behind that for me. In fact, someone please explain to me how that board has rules and yet there are those who break those rules without penance. No wonder I don't ever go there... or to any message boards for that matter. It's a wonder anybody shows up considering the unstable administration.

Holding off posting anymore stuff, since I need fresh material for blog post #500. On the other hand, the post isn't going to be anything special. Hey, if Smackdown won't treat its 400th episode as something special, then I won't either. So meh.

More Lashley-bashing? No problem. Click here to check out the poster artwork for this year's WWE One Night Stand (yes, kids. Not ECW ONS, but WWE ONS). If you need any more proof that Lashley can't do mad verbally or facially, this is it.

That's it for now. See you next month.
